Common mode choke (CMC) is a power magnetics component is used in electronic circuits to block unwanted high frequencies and allows lower frequencies or DC to pass through.  CMC are also useful for prevention of electromagnetic interference (EMI) and radio frequency interface, (RFI) from power supply lines and electronic equipment from malfunctioning.  In automotive, Controller Area Network (CAN) buses utilize CMC to filter out EMI in the circuits to ensure the signals between the microcontroller and other devices are effectively communicated without electronic noises.  This can highly increase the reliability and provide protection to the bus from EMI.
